I think this is a great idea...I have one older dog (14 years old) and two puppies. So its a busy house. One of the puppies have caught on quicker than the other. She goes over and rubs against the bells. There both so small...you can't see them go to the door to go out. But you can hear the bells.

My new puppy learned to ring the bell, within the first couple of days. We have had no accidents since we received the bells. When people come over they are impressed. I would incourage anyone to use this item

I have 2 Golden Retrievers 1 is 14 years old the other is 5 years old both potty trained. I adopted a small breed probably a mix of poodle and maltese (we don't know for sure)at 2 years old. He was never properly potty trained and I had a hell of time for 8 months trying. Then I bought 2 sets of these bells (one for each patio door)and within 3 days he started ringing them! My husband thought I was nuts when I made the purchase but they really work. Buy them now! You won't regret it. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?

I live in Texas and it's now snake season. I use a doggy door during the cooler months when I know it's safe for the "kids" to go outside. I just got a new puppy and it literally took her 1 day to get that she needed to ring the bells to get outside. Now my 2 older dogs use it too. It's been the greatest training aid I've gotten yet!

Our one year old dog is "getting it" finally. Hanging it on the door didn't work since there wasn't enough space between the bells and the door to get a loud enough "ring". We hung it on a bracket that stands out further from the wall by the front door. Concept is great.

These bells are easy to hang, easy to use and cute - the only complaints I have are the selection was a little limited when I ordered - and they're not too durable, so if you have an out-of-control chewer, they may not hold up well enough for you. My pup likes to play in them, but we just take him outside when he starts to - and he leaves them alone. And yes, they actually work - our pup now nudges them when he wants to go outside - after only a few weeks of training. Helped a lot with housebreaking, buy two so you can have one for the front and back door!
