Put in different sized pieces of well-bites or whatever you are using so that at first the dog will be rewarded with a treat after a just few jiggles or shaking or rolling the toy on the ground. Later as puppy figures out what to do put in fewer smaller pieces but still enough so treats are coming out at the rate to keep puppy occupied. This works for a teething dog that wants to chew on everything!!

Our dog loves it. You have to find the right size snack to put in it--if they are too large they get stuck.

I have 2 of these attached together for my golden ret. When I leave for work each am, I put a few small treats inside and she loves the seek and find concept. I feel as though it gives her something to do for a bit while I am gone and it helps her to figure things out by forcing her to do something for a treat.

Wonderful toy! When hers gets dirty, I put it in the dishwasher, not sure if that is recommended or not but it always comes out perfect.

Our miniature dachshund, Sadie, seems to be able to destroy other treat balls and toys, but - so far - she has not chewed this to pieces. I bought three of them, and am just now experimenting with different fun ideas for her with them.

It is difficult to find the just the right size food that will fall out of the openings, but not too easily.

We adopted our 5 year old 11-lb. terrier mix 2+ years ago and it was obvious from the start that she had been neglected and abused. She had no idea how to play despite the myriad of toys we provided (and still do). She'd get interested in a toy, be it a chew-toy or a squeaky toy, but lose interest almost immediately because she had no idea how to play. I recently bought just one Canine Genius component and from day one she's been totally engaged! She plays with it and has figured it out. She carries it around with her from room to room. She gets all excited when she sees me putting treats inside it. I intend to add more components to keep her guessing.

Must find the right treats

Dogs did not like this at first because either small treats rolled out of the top too easily, and larger treats were impossible to retrieve from the "X" slits. Found that using dried chicken breast strips broken into pieces would slide into the slots and be challenging enough to keep the dogs interested. The chicken strips get dispensed at a rate of reinforcement just enough to keep them very interested.

My dog loves this toy, but I will warn you I thought I was purchasing multiple pieces as a group. I thought the picture was deceiving as only one was delivered. That said, I still think it was a good buy as my dog absolutely loves it! Even if there isn't a treat in the toy he's chewing and licking. I will also say that he's a very agressive chewer and it's holding up fairly well.
