No, I would not recommend this to a friend

My dog quickly ripped the "leaves and stem" off. I wouldn't reccomend this for agressive chewers, like my dog. Although she broke the top off immediately, she did continue to chew it. She can fit the whole thing in her mouth and likes to gnaw on it. It has a weird and unpleasant mint smell, but Missy doesn't seem to mind. It's not worth [$].
