Dachshunds are not to jump up or down from heights because of their tendency to slipped disks and other back problems. These steps help them to get onto and off of the bed without risking harm to their backs.
The steps are good loking, and sturdy so I am sure they will last a long time (as opposed to the less expensive and "flimsier" models I have seen elsewhere).
