from Atlanta, GA on 08/07/2009I loved how sturdy the product was and it is alomost as cute as my dog. It has the visor to protect him from direct sunlight while we are riding. The instructions were easy and simple. The only problem with this product is it does not fit on the handlebars if your bike has gears on the handlebars. I needed to take to a bike shop and pay for someone to move my gears around so that the basket can fit properly. This cost me extra money and the basket was not cheap.

from Walnut Creek on 06/16/2009I am a car-lite individual; any reason to ride my bike and I'm all over it. I have purchased several, expensive bicycle baskets to take my little Brussels Griffon out with me on rides. One basket, the Pluto from the Basil line which is imported from the Netherlands, is beautiful, but overly large, even for a Dutch bike, it was not stable. In the middle of my ride downtown during heavy traffic the bracket collapsed! It left me to improvise with bungee cords, tying the thing to my rack.
I am so pleased with the Tagalong Wicker Basket. It's fairly priced for the detailed workmanship featured for this basket. The structure is a sturdy wire basket which is intricately weaved through and through with wicker fiber. The sun shade canopy is of the same quality that is fastened by faux leather straps which is a really neat idea. My Brussels Griffon, who is 9 lbs. and full grown, loves to go in and out of it, no sweat. The sheepskin fleece lining is lush, there are small cutouts that are precisely placed for the small metal ring to fasten the tether located on the bottom and to fit the four leather straps that are attached through the top of the basket to secure the sunshade canopy. The tether is the perfect length and the buckles on the leather straps are of good quality. I am impressed by the extra safety the two cinch straps provide which are anchored on your handlebar via straps, there are metal snap hooks one on end of the straps which is easily connected to one of two metal rings situated on either side of the outer shell of the wicker basket.
There is a bottom strut which stabilizes the basket to the bike, I chose to leave this out because my head tube tilts backward and makes the basket sit kind of weird on my Azor Zwan Dutch bike. The stabilizer itself is good because it moves with the basket and slides along the head tube. To accommodate my decision to leave the stabilizer out so that the basket sits even is to wrap electrical tape around the cross wire braces ... we'll see how this goes.
