This worked on my puggle for exactly one day and never worked on my lab-shepard mix. I know that the dogs can hear the sound that this product makes, but they simply shake their heads and ignore it. I got this product in attempts to avoid shock collars and my next step is the citronella anti-bark collar and if that doesn't work, the shock collar will be my last resort.

I purchased this item to help curb the protective barking of my German Shepherd/Chow mix (so he's got a big bark!). The walls of our townhouse are very thin and I didn't want to disturb my neighbors. My dog figured this out within three uses. I first had it on a coffee table and when a friend walked in, he barked, it went off, he stopped. He barked again, it went off, he stopped again. He quickly figured out where the "annoying sound" was coming from and went over and barked right at it, just once. You could tell he was testing it. It, of course, went off and there have been very few times since he barks more than once, if at all. I like this product because it doesn't shock or hurt him, just startles him. Will probably depend on your dog, but worked very well for us.

I do wish that it had an on/off switch instead of just having to take out the battery. Also, it can be sensitive and has gone off when I've given a loud "NO" and when I accidentally set it down too hard.

I've bought two of these units, thinking the first one was just defective, but neither of them go off when my dogs bark. The manual button works just fine, but the real point of the device is that it goes off by itself when triggered by the dog's bark, which it does not. I was so disappointed in this and would NOT suggest it to anyone!
