Dog Tags for Pet ID and Dog Collars
Sadly, 10 million pets are lost each year and 90 percent never come home. At FetchDog, we highly recommend micro-chipping your dog as well as having a personalized dog tag with your name and contact information on your dog's collar. There are many styles to choose from which is up to your personal preference, but here are some basic helpful hints for dog tags:
1. Use an engraved dog tag and include your dog's name, your telephone number and address.
2. If your dog has specific medical information such as "diabetic" consider a separate dog tag with that notice plus your vet's contact info.
3. When traveling, we recommend making travel dog tags with your vacation info including a cell phone number. Dogs are often lost on family vacations and not found due to lack of accurate contact information and unfamiliar surroundings.
4. Dogs are also often lost when owners move, so be especially careful to update your dog's tags when you move and consider enrolling in a pet micro-chipping service such as HomeAgain.
