Why elevated?
Elevated feeders help prevent dogs from gulping their food, which may cause gas and in rare cases, a condition called GDV (or bloat). They also are more comfortable for older pets with stiff muscles or joints. All dogs and owners benefit from cleaner feeding areas—your dog won’t have to lift his or her head as far to swallow, so less food and water will end up on the floor. Raised bowls also eliminate water and food getting trapped underneath, which can harbor bacteria and ruin floors.

Elevated bowls should be about 6” below the top of a large dog’s front shoulder and 4” below a small dog’s shoulder. With your dog in a standing position, measure the height from the floor to the top of your dog’s shoulder with a cloth tape.
Stainless steel is very resistant but not impervious to rust. Frequent cleaning with mild soap and water and a cotton cloth is required. Occasionally, stainless steel will develop corrosion or discoloration due to environmental conditions but can usually be restored. To minimize discoloration or corrosion, avoid cleansers containing chloride (as well as salts), avoid contact with iron (such as steel wool pads) and do not clean with concentrated soap.
Hand wash with soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
