While your dog is lying down, measure your dog’s length from the tip of her nose to the tip of her tail. Add 10-12 inches to obtain the best length for the bed. Add an additional 2-4 inches if your dog likes to stretch out.
We have experienced through our own dogs and through stories of customers’ dogs – that the dog’s sleep style is just as important as the dog’s size. For example, if you have a 35 lbs Weimaraner that always curls up in a tight ball when she sleeps, then perhaps the medium bed (16-35 lbs) would be a better fit than the large size bed. However, if she likes to stretch out or circle and dig to get comfortable, then we recommend the large size bed so that your dog will have room in the front and on the sides of the bed. If your dog is between sizes, we suggest ordering the next size up.
This is a sloped bed. It’s not a donut, nor is it a mattress bed. It’s particularly good for older dogs to get into because they don’t have to step over it like they would with a bolster bed.
