Doesn't quite anchor the bowl everytime

My house is fully carpeted and my dog is a vigorous eater. I needed something to protect the carpet and keep the bowl in place. A couple of times when getting that last bit of soft food out of his bowl, he has managed to pop it off the mat.

That's Good Stuff
Meets expections, but...

This is one of the best mats I've used if only rating STAY PUT. With two Beagles that want every last drop of food, the bowls no longer roam all over the kitchen. However, the mat is MUCH bigger than any dog bowl I've ever used and with two dogs takes up too much space. A smaller diameter would be preferable. Also, any oils from food outside the bowls (my Beagles don't have great table manners) do not remove easily if at all.
