Choosing the Perfect Bed

  1. What type of sleeper is your dog?
  2. Do you have an older dog
    with special needs?
  3. What kind of special features do
    you want?
  4. What cover material would you like?

As much as we want to give our four-legged pals everything, letting your dog share your bed isn't always conducive to a good night's sleep. Fortunately, here at FetchDog we offer an extensive selection of the best dog beds around, from simple to fabulous. We have what your dog needs to get the rest he deserves.

Simply answer the following questions and you're on your way to your dog's dream bed.

Type

Like humans, different dogs have distinct sleep habits. Some like to curl into a ball, some dogs sprawl, others burrow, and some lean. What is your dog's sleeping preference?

Curlers Leaners Sprawlers Burrowers

If your dog sleeps curled up in a ball, you've got a "curler." Your pup will prefer donut-style dog beds, which enclose dogs on all sides and give them a sense of security and protection - all while keeping them oh-so-comfy.

Does your dog love to snooze on your favorite couch or chair? If so, you may have a "leaner." These kinds of dogs prefer the support of a back bolster - so keep 'em off the furniture with a bolster bed or dog couch.

If it seems like your favorite bed-hog can never get enough room, you've got a "sprawler." These dogs spread out every which way and need flat, extra-large beds. Try a dog pillow or large dog pad for plenty of room.

Does your pooch like to dig into their bed, or keep cover under a blanket or throw? If so, your dog is a"burrower." These dogs love beds that cover their heads and make them feel protected - so nesting dog beds are the perfect choice.

Special needs

As our beloved pets age, they develop special needs unique to senior dogs. Older joints and muscles can become painful, but don’t worry – you can give him back the comfort he deserves with one of our orthopedic dog beds. They’re specially designed to target the specific challenges that come with aging pets and make life a little bit easier – for you and your dog.

Dog beds filled with memory foam alleviate the pressure placed on sensitive muscles and joints, easing your pet’s aches and pains. Memory foam dog beds react to your pet’s body heat and conform perfectly to your dog, becoming soft where your pet needs comfort and firm where she needs support. If your dog suffers from joint and muscle pain, or has hip dysplasia or other sensitivities, memory foam can make all the difference in the world.

Many aging dogs suffer from urinary incontinence, which often leads to odor issues. We’ve worked to find the highest-performing odor-stopping bed, we’re confident in our choice – the Scent Stopper Dog Bed. Millions of odor-neutralizing charcoal particles eliminate unpleasant odors, and memory foam filling relieves your dog’s aching joints and muscles. Plus, this dog bed features a machine washable removable cover, so it’s a breeze to clean up after any little accidents.

Another great way to make your older dog more comfortable is with a temperature-controlled dog bed. We offer both heated dog beds and cooling dog beds, which are therapeutic for older joints and can help to put the spring back in your aging dog’s step.

When shopping for a senior dog bed, look for styles that have low thresholds for easy access. Dog beds that your pet can walk onto – rather than jump up on – are easier on your dog’s joints.

Special features

Many of our beds come with a variety of special features that make them far from ordinary – and perfect for you and your dog’s unique lifestyle.

Stain & Water
Resistant

Is your dog the messy type? If you find muddy paw prints throughout the kitchen and have grown used to wet, smelly beds, don’t worry – help is here. Many of our beds are specially treated for stain and water resistance, keeping dirt and moisture on the surface – so they’re simple to wipe clean. A stain and water resistant dog bed lets your dog be his messy self – while saving you the headache of constant bed washing.

Outdoor

Your dog loves to be outdoors – and his bed should too! Our outdoor dog beds are perfect for the deck, patio, and lawn, so your dog can lounge in comfort even when he’s not in the house. Plus, these outdoor dog beds are weather resistant, so they won’t be damaged by sun exposure – or sun showers. (colorfast dyes)

Portable

If you and your pup like to travel, you’ll need a lightweight, travel-ready dog bed that can go with you wherever you roam. We recommend a crate pad like our Eco-Friendly Sleeper. This dog pad is lightweight, fits easily into many dog crates, and gives your dog all the comfort he desires – even when you’re on the go.

Eco-Friendly

Want a bed that’s as good for the environment as it is for your dog? Try a bed filled with IntelliLoft™, an environmentally friendly fill that’s made from recycled soda bottles. Recycled fills are eco-friendly and super comfy – so your dog and the earth can both rest easy.

Material

With so many cover fabric options, here’s our primer on cover materials – so you can make the best choice for your dog.

Microvelvet

This incredible fabric is 6 to 8 times stronger than cotton – and feels so much softer. Its velvety surface repels dog hair, dirt, and moisture to eliminate mess and odor. While slightly more expensive than cotton, its performance is unparalleled.

Sherpa fleece

Our coziest fabric, Sherpa fleece is sumptuously soft and wraps your pet in fuzzy comfort. While not recommended for messy dogs, Sherpa is the perfect choice for picky pooches who simply must have the softest, warmest dog bed around.

Faux fur

Give your pet a taste of the high life with a luxurious faux fur dog bed. Our 100% synthetic faux fur is even better than the real thing – it’s machine washable and durable enough to withstand years of use,

Cotton

The classic choice for dog beds, cotton is soft, durable, and affordable. If you’re looking for a personalized dog bed, cotton is your best bet – it’s the easiest fabric to embroider.
