Goldens, like Labs, are one of the most popular breeds due to their friendliness, playfulness, willing attitude and a good splash of intelligence added to the mix. They are often the choice for assistance dogs of every type and popular therapy dogs. Their sweet faces and wagging tails make them welcome guests when people need cheering. Popularity is a curse and can result in some badly bred lines with excessive energy. Field lines also tend to be more energetic. Show lines tend to make more docile family pets, although all Goldens are very active during the first few years. Exercise is the ticket! Goldens, like any other popular breed, are like the little girl with the curl on her forehead, when they are good, they are very, very good; when they are bad, the owner has to deal with physical or behavioral problems.
