Although Springers will gladly join owners in any activity and be all the happier for it, some lines can be lower-key and well-behaved inside. Cheerful, strong, and full of vigor, these dogs thrive with work, whether it is in the field or playing a game at home. But they can also be a loving, cuddling companion and a charming friend to everyone in the house. Springer breeders and owners usually focus on either field ability or dog shows, with the field lines promising higher energy. Field lines also are usually lankier with less coat than those preferred by owners who show. Show and field genetic pools have actually been segregated for the past 70 years. Pets can be found in either style, depending on the interests of the buyer, desires and activity level.
