Moving to your house is a big change for your dog. Think about it – he’s got a new home, a new name, new people, and possibly even other pets to meet.
Thanks to his pack mentality, your dog will soon be figuring out who the leader of your pack is. Who is the leader of the pack? You are!
Establishing yourself as the pack leader is not tricky.

Tips for Showing Your Adopted Dog You are Leader of the Pack
    - Control where, when, and what your dog eats; once your dog knows the “sit” command, tell him to “sit” before giving him his dinner.
    - Control where your dog wanders and where he sleeps. Use a training leash that fastens around your waist or a long leash to tether your dog. Don’t allow him on the couch or other furniture, use the leash to get him on to his bed and tether him. Keeping your adopted dog near you with a training leash has the added benefit of helping you and your new best friend bond.
