Pay tribute to the heroic search-and-rescue dogs who worked so tirelessly at Ground Zero by adopting on or around September 11th.
Make October your month to adopt, in honor of the hundreds of thousands of dogs who lost their lives and homes in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
Visit your local shelter near the end of November, and every day thereafter will be Thanksgiving for the dog you choose.
Remember that huge numbers of dogs are abandoned at shelters in the weeks following Christmas, and bring one of them "home for the holidays."
