No time like the present – don’t wait for "the perfect" time, it doesn’t exist!

Dogs are all about unconditional love, so celebrate that love – the kind that’s so hard to find – by adopting on Valentine’s Day.

Saint Patrick was a big dog lover; adopt a big shelter dog on his day (March 17th) and get him a green dog collar.

Don’t get a bunny for Easter – get a shelter dog instead and take photographs of him wearing rabbit ears.

On April 15th, give yourself the ultimate refund - not a tax shelter, but a shelter dog.

Why not commemorate a national holiday or event? Think patriotic and adopt a Great American Shelter Hound on Flag Day (June 14th) or July 4th.

Pay tribute to the heroic search-and-rescue dogs who worked so tirelessly at Ground Zero by adopting on or around September 11th.

Make October your month to adopt, in honor of the hundreds of thousands of dogs who lost their lives and homes in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

Visit your local shelter near the end of November, and every day thereafter will be Thanksgiving for the dog you choose.

Remember that huge numbers of dogs are abandoned at shelters in the weeks following Christmas, and bring one of them "home for the holidays."

Make it your New Year’s Resolution to start the Fido Fitness routine, in which no day goes by without three brisk, heart-healthy walks.
