The Gentle Leader Head Collar dog training collar eliminates barking, lunging, leash pulling, begging and jumping from your dog’s repertoire. The Nose Loop - Dogs are naturally "pack" animals with a highly structured social order. One of the ways the "pack leader" will demonstrate his position is to gently but firmly grasp a subordinate’s muzzle in his mouth. This is a non-aggressive, very clear signal regarding who’s the boss! The Gentle Leader’s® nose loop encircles your dog’s muzzle in this same manner, letting him know in his own language that you are his leader. Dogs feel more secure when they know who the leader is.

The Neck Strap - Have you noticed how puppies seem to melt in relaxation when their mother picks them up at the back of the neck? Gentle Leader® applies pressure to the back of the neck rather than the front of the throat, working with your dog’s natural relaxation instinct with an amazing calming effect. Also, dogs tend to pull against pres-sure so the gentle pressure at the back of the neck causes the dog to pull backward, not forward. This means an end to leash pulling forever!

This gentle leader has done wonders for our puppy!! Before, she would pull me down the stairs and was always tugging at the leash. If she saw another dog, she would almost choke herself trying to get to it. She no longer drags me around town, jumps on other walkers, or barks on our walks. While she was not initially a big fan of the leash over her nose, she has gotten used to it and trots along happily. Thank you, Fetchdog!

The best tool to teach dogs/puppies not to pull when on leach. We adopted a 3 yr old Australian Shepherd/Heeler cross from the Humane Society and it was a disaster the first time we took him out on the leach. I have used the Gentle Leader collar 2 times now and the results are amazing. He taught himself not to pull or jerk and walks calmly beside me and my arm doesn't feel like it is going to fall off.

I work in an animal hospital and we recommend the gentle leader to our clients. I know from personal experience that it is the best training tool on the market. I have a Siberian Husky and it is his job to pull. I could not walk him until I trained him on the gentle leader. I tell everyone, you have to be consistent because your dog won't like it at first. Make it fun, don't give up and you too will love this collar and most of all so will your dog.

Great instructions. It takes a couple of uses to get the hang of putting it on. My 2 year old boxer pulled like mad with any other type of collar, but this was like a miracle. He was just like the dog described in the literature--the one who needs it the most will fight it at first. It truly changed his behavior on the leash within the first 10 minutes!

I bought this as a replacement of an old Gentle Leader I had. I like this new model better -- not only is it easier to fit, but the material isn't as stiff as the old one. Plus, it is labeled "Gentle Leader" -- which I am hoping will reduce the number of time people mistakenly think it is a muzzle.

We use this product every day for a walk. We had been using a harness, the kind that goes around the chest and back area. Our golden was able to pull us around when using that so we decided to try this gentle leader. She is getting used to it, at first it was a bad problem,as far as her trying to get it off but she did not pull us around either. It is very helpful when other dogs come around on our walk, it is a great product.

I've been using this for several months with my (currently) 110 lb Lab/Dane puppy. It does help, but I haven't had quite the success of other reviewers. He can still pull, though granted not like with a plain flat collar. My mother is unable to walk him even with this collar b/c he can still lunge at small furry things and other dogs. Also, when he pulls it shifts the collar and nose loop so sometimes the nose loop ends up covering one of his eyes. I've tried tightening the collar strap (I really can't tighten it any more) but that hasn't solved the problem. Also, I find it hard to believe that the dog is comfortable with this on.

My 85 lb. Lab came from a shelter with one really bad habit...he pulls on the leash. I tried every training tip to change this behavior, but he would still fall into old habits. The gentle leader makes walking him pleasurable. So glad I purchased this. I can now take him for a walk instead of a drag.

I first learned about the Gentle Leader Head Collar when raising my first service-dog puppy. I've been using one for 10 years for retrievers who like to pull on their leash. I like the new more narrow nose strap. With this collar, even my 7-year-old daughter can easily walk our 50 lb Lab. The dogs do adjust to the nose strap so don't give in when they try to rub at it. Walks are more fun and frequent when you are in control.

Wonderful product for a dominant dog that insists on leading (or dragging!) its owner. My dog absolutely hated it the first few times we used it, but now she can hardly wait to go for our afternoon walks/runs. It is a little awkward to fit, but if you follow the directions (booklet or CD), it will guide you to make the proper adjustments.
