Head of the Class

When it comes to our dogs, my husband and I are like proud parents.  We cart them around in safe family wagon.  We feed them nutritious foods and make sure they get plenty of exercise.  And even though we wouldn't say anything to our friends about it, we're convinced they're smarter than the other dogs we know.

If there were such a thing as doggie day school, Cassidy and Stella would be in the gifted and talented program.

But that's not to say you can't teach an old dog new tricks

Which is why we're so into FetchDog's educational toys.  Why not give their minds - and their teeth - a workout?

As children everywhere head back to class, we're giving our girls a little home-schooling with the Plush Leo Dog Toy.  At first, it looks like a vase, but look a little closer, and it holds a carrot, turkey leg, T-bone steak and fish inside.  Stuff the little toys inside and our dogs will figure out how to get them out.  It's like hide and seek for the canine set.

Ditto for the Smarty Pants Dog Toy, a plush pair of overalls that hold squeaky surprises including "IQ Dog Treats."  They'll send Cass and Stella right to the head of the class.

Since our girls are true intellectuals, we're sure they're up for the challenge of the Dog Brick Interactive Toy, a tray with movable bricks that hold hidden treats.  Smart dogs know that hard work and dedication has its rewards, so we know they'll solve the puzzle- and snout out their biscuits - in no time flat.

We're even considering a Varsity Stripe Sweater for Cassidy and an ArfGyle Sweater for Stella.  These adorable duds may not be up to their IQ, but the girls will look smart while they're studying for their SATs (swimming and treats).

And besides, they'll be a real class act.
