A Dog Gated Community

Sure, baby gates serve a purpose - for moms.  And people who couldn't care less about the way a white plastic grate looks next to their new granite countertops. One Touch Pet Gate

But the design-savvy dog lover wants something a little more, shall we say, refined.  That's where these freestanding gates and wooden one touch gates come in.  If your dog is a chewer, it's best to stick to metal pet gates (and to keep your stilettos, books, and collection of '70s vinyl behind locked doors).  But if she's more of a lover than a biter, these are a stylish solution.

I wish I had discovered the five panel cherry accordion dog gate - large enough to span a 9-foot gap - a decade ago.  That way, I could've blocked off the entire kitchen before our then-puppy Cassidy had a chance to pry open the refrigerator and scarf down a crown rib roast, two packs of cream cheese and a stick of butter.

It wasn't pretty. Walk Thru Pet Gate  But these dog gates are.

The accordion gates are available in cherry, mahogany and black finishes and are not recommended for dogs who are aggressive jumpers.  The one touch push button gates come in a dark wood finish and are sized to fit doorways up to 60 inches wide.

Even better? Both options will help you avoid an ugly situation - whether that entails fur on your leather sofa or a baby gate in your doorway.
