These Wheaton Terriers look happy to be out on a summer sail with their family. We're happy to see they are outfitted with PFDs, making their sail not only fun but safe.
After seeing the devastation that Hurricane Katrina wrought on dogs and other pets three years ago, Muttshack, the ASPCA and other organizations made sure pets were better cared for during the next evacuation. Hurricane Gustav was their first test. Thousands of pets -- cats, dogs, iguanas, birds, and other animals -- made it to Shreveport and waited out Gustav. Now they're waiting to go home. (One owner will be picking up a few more dogs than he or she sent to the shelter - a litter of four puppies was born during the evacuation!)
We think Pedro the Pug might be a little scared of Daisy the Bunny after watching this cute dog movie that shows that rabbits can win the battle over the couch. We like how the dog takes out his frustration on his blanket after losing the coveted spot to the bunny. Check out this funny dog video!

This funny dog video features Jack, a Boston Terrier who has lost his ball in a boot. Terriers are tenacious, and it's hilarious to see how far Jack will go to get his ball out of that boot. Let's just say that Jack ends up wearing the boot. Not on his foot. Don't worry, he doesn't get stuck!
A Standard Poodle, a Labrador Retriever, and little mixed breed dog have figured out how to keep cool and have some fun in a pool. Actually, the little dog is sticking to dry land. Good idea - the other two dogs have the family pool looking like a wave pool. All three dogs are having a blast, though.
We love the game of Fetch here at FetchDog, and we love this Irish dog's twist on the game. When he brings back his stick, he sets it on the thrower's feet. Want to teach your dog to play fetch? Nessa, a Maine Coon Cat mix, was adopted via the Broadway Barks adoption event in 2007. As you will see, Buddy the Golden Retriever clearly welcomed Nessa into the fold. We're not sure a dog and cat could snuggle any more! The annual Broadway Barks pet adoption event is coming up. It's July 12 on Shubert Alley, in the heart of Broadway and will feature some of the Broadway stage's biggest stars. In this video from 2004, Hugh Panaro and Sandra Johnson from The Phantom of the Opera show the crowd some really cute puppies that were available in New York City shelters. The dogs here at FetchDog love treats. What dog doesn't? We can get our dogs to do just about anything for their favorite little goody. Watch this video and see Tucker, a Black Lab, getting put through the paces by his owner. He definitely has his mind on the treat that's coming. On a side note: we love seeing kids get involved in dog training. It's good for both the dog and the young person. Tucker is not a puppy, but it looks like his girl has taught him some new tricks. Some dogs don't need waves to become surfing dogs. Watch this video shot at Florida's Gulf World Marine Park, where a dolphin gives a ride to a dog on a surfboard. Does the dog like it? We don't think he minds. We have a feeling it's all in a day's work for this dog.
We met Bill Campbell and his service dog, Pax, in Glenn Close's Lively Licks blog. Here's another service dog making a huge difference in someone's life. This dog, Ilia, sticks by Cole through everything, including medical procedures, physical therapy, and learning to walk. She's quite a dog, and Ilia and Cole make a super team. Be forewarned: our eyes got a tiny bit damp watching this one.
Watch Gus, a Chinese Crested Dog win the title "World's Ugliest Dog" in this video from the Sonoma- Marin Fair in California. Gus, who is missing an eye and a leg, is battling skin cancer and competed against several other Chinese Crested Dogs for the title, which his owner says is an honor. We were happy to see that these allegedly "ugly" dogs are apparently much loved by their owners, who cuddled and kissed them on stage. Chinese Crested Dogs are known for their loving and perky temperaments.

Some dogs love to swim, and some dogs are happy to just get wet when it's hot outside. A little bit of water is all you need to cool off, especially if your legs are only a few inches long. Watch Archie the Dachshund have a blast in his kiddie pool in this great dog video.

Here's a nice video of a bunch of dogs having a blast and getting their exercise at a Pensacola dog park. (Warning: unless your dog park is on a beautiful beach, next to what must be some really warm ocean water, you may become jealous while watching this.) At first we thought this must be a park for really, really big dogs, then a tiny little white dog appeared. Everyone, owners and dogs alike, in this video is happy and safe, just like this week's FetchDog story, Dog Park Safety advises.
