Who will be top dog at North Shore's DogCatemy Celebrity Gala tonight?

Tonight is the 2009 DogCatemy Celebrity Gala, a glamorous benefit and short-film competition to raise awareness and funds for North Shore Animal League America, the country's largest no-kill animal shelter. This is truly the K9 social event of the year, and well-behaved dogs join their owners to experience celebrities presenting short films they produced. These films receive their world premiere when they're screened before the Gala audience. Past DogCatemy award winners have included domestic diva and FetchDog friend Martha Stewart and Oscar-winning actress Marcia Gay Harden.
 
This year's Master of Ceremonies will be TV legend Geraldo Rivera, who adopted Elvis, his family's Golden Retriever, from North Shore; musical entertainment will be provided by recording artist Diane Birch; and instead of a red carpet, celebs on two and four legs will walk a green carpet decorated with monumental dog figures by metal sculptor Dale Rogers. The Gala's hard-working co-chairs are FetchDog friends Dr. Jennifer Jablow, dog-loving "Dentist to the Stars," and reality-TV star Prince Lorenzo Borghese; both are huge North Shore supporters and very active in dog rescue and advocacy.
 
Among the boldface names expected to attend the gala and/or screen films of their making are tennis ace Monica Seles, hockey hunk Rick DiPietro of the New York Islanders, composer Marvin Hamlisch, fashion designer Lela Rose, and The Howard Stern Show's Robin Quivers and Gary Dell'Abate. As always, gracing the gala will be North Shore's celebrity spokesperson (and Howard Stern's wife), the beautiful Beth Ostrosky Stern.
