Westminster's "Top Dog" is a Scottie named Sadie

By Julia Szabo

Her full champion title Ch. Roundtown Mercedes of Maryscot, but the world is now on a first-name basis with Sadie the Scottish terrier since she took the "Best in Show" prize at this week's Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.

Perhaps even more endearing than her bushy eyebrows, perfectly clipped beard, and short little legs is the fact that Sadie understands "cookie" and "hot dog" in five - count 'em, five - languages.

Sadie's win will doubtless boost the popularity of Scotties, but rescue groups hope that dog lovers in the market for one of these bold, black terriers will consider adopting rather than purchasing a pet.

Another way to bring that great Scots spirit into your life is by acquiring a vintage Scottie collectible. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's beloved Scottie Fala inspired innumerable Scottie-shaped objects that remain highly collectible to this day.
