Uno the Beagle stops traffic in Times Square

By Julia Szabo

Escorted by his handler Aaron Wilkerson, Uno the Beagle left New York City this morning, headed home to South Carolina.

Uno appeared just the tiniest bit sleepy-eyed after his grueling round of media appearances that ended with this morning's photo opp at NASDAQ in Times Square.

This dog is truly spectacular in the flesh, his tri-color coat soft and fluffy, the white parts dazzlingly bright, and his tail in constant motion (which explains the soft focus of these photographs).

Uno has star quality in spades - the last time I saw a boy this breathtaking, it was at dinner in Los Angeles' Lucques restaurant, when all eyes focused on actor Guy Pearce as he walked in to join his party. He appeared to be dusted in gold.

But I digress. Normally jaded passersby, walking to work in Thank-God-it's-Friday mode, lit up to recognize the Westminster winner, stopping to capture Uno's image on their cellular phones.

Westminster co-host and spokesman David Frei graciously offered to take several phone photos himself, so the phones' owners could pose with the four-footed celeb.

Uno, meanwhile, graciously greeted several women who stooped for a stroke and a kiss.
