This weekend, New York dogs are Halloween hounds, hamming it up for Howl-O-Ween.
For dog lovers, it's not Halloween, it's Howl-O-Ween - and New York City's pooch people are getting a jump on the spooky holiday a week early. This weekend will be jam-packed with fun events, including numerous opportunities to show off dogs in costume.

Saturday, October 24, is the date of the 19th annual Halloween dog parade in Manhattan's Tompkins Square Park. The festivities begin at 12 noon and include a costume contest and raffle, awarding a brand-new iPod to the lucky winners. Expect packs of fashion hounds dressed to the canines, as this is in the heart of Manhattan's East Village, where cutting-edge chic is a way of life.

The very next day, Sunday, October 25, show off dogs dressed to the canines at the Upper East Side's Carl Schurz Park, where the Halloween Howl starts at 1 pm.
