The fine art of pit bull rescue

Posted on Feb 29, 2008 By Julia Szabo
Dog artist and FetchDog friend Heather LaHaise knows a cute canine when she sees one, and was inspired to paint Tickles, an adoptable pit bull currently in the care of the excellent rescue group Bobbi and the Strays.

With her portrait, LaHaise was able to capture the pit's more pensive side - a contrast to her gleeful grin in yesterday's posting on this blog.

LaHaise, who uses her talent to help reverse the sad plight of the pit bull, is now at work on a portrait of another pit: Lucky, a resident of the Bergen County Animal Shelter.

Meanwhile, visitors to Columbia, South Carolina - LaHaise's creative base - will be delighted to see the new exhibition of her dog paintings at Mr. Friendly's New Southern Cafe.

This blogger is partial to the triple portrait of a winsome white pit named Angus.
