Fashion retailer Maurice's is teaming up with the ASPCA to raise awareness and funds for local animal shelters around the country by producing pet-themed runway shows.

During the month of September, more than 700 Maurice's stores in 44 states will host "Rescues and Runways" fashion shows and sponsor pet-supply drives to support local shelters.  Each fashion show will feature local models wearing the latest fall looks from Maurice's, and each model will be accompanied on the catwalk by an adoptable shelter pet.

The "Rescues & Runways" event kicks off today with a fashion show at Maurice's in Duluth, MN, where the corporation's home office is located.  The event will include check presentations by Maurice's CEO David Jaffe to the ASPCA and to local partner Animal Allies Humane Society.

Recognizing animal lover's devotion to their own pets, Maurice's is also introducting a limited edition Friends for Life Charm.  The charm will sell for $5 in all Maurice's stores from mid-September through October 31st; for every charm purchased, $2.50 will go to support the ASPCA and its national shelter outreach program.

For information on when a Rescues & Runways fashion show will  be held in your area, inquire at a Maurice's near you or go here.
