The makers of the documentary "Valentino:  The Last Emperor" have announced the results of a contest that had dog lovers around the world holding their collective breath:  The Most Fashionable Pug Contest, which was judged by the immortal designer Valentino Garavani himself.

Valentino is more qualified than anyone to judge such a contest, as he lives with no fewer than six Pugs of his own.  Still, asked to choose from among the staggering 465 dogs who entered this contest, Valentino had his work cut out for him.  But his unerring eye for style and beauty enable him to make short work of this challenge.

Anna Wintour PugIn first place is Ito, a four-year-old Pug from San Francisco, whose photograph reveals him wearing big sunglasses, pearls, and a bobbed, brunette wig.  The accessories conspire to make Ito look like a ringer for Vogue magazine editor Anna Wintour.  And, as Valentino exclaimed upon seeing the photograph, "You cannot talk fashion without talking Anna Wintour!".

In second place is Jolly from New Hampshire, who wears a toile de Jouy dress in his entry photo.  And in third place are a trio of parka-wearing Pugs named Blue, Bono and Roxy from Rohnert Park, California.
