Search continues in Portland, Oregon, for missing dog named Veronica

Here's proof that Portland, Oregon more than earns its title of "Dog Town USA": a popular gift store called Funny Bone is renowned for its in-store mascot Veronica, a seven-pound miniature Yorkshire Terrier.  Sadly, on June 11th, at about 5 p.m., Veronica went missing and has not been seen since.

The store has posted a huge, attention-getting, missing-dog flyer in its window, and smaller versions of the flyer can be seen in the windows of neighboring businesses, including the Hotel Vintage Plaza located down the block and around the corner.

The historic luxury hotel has taken this cause to heart, and little wonder: the Vintage Plaza is renowned for treating canine guests like royalty at no extra cost to their owners, and the reception area's own on-premises mascot is a pretty Havanese named Georgie.  Last month, the Vintage Plaza hosted a "Finding Veronica Rally".

"Those guys have been so wonderful," says Funny Bone owner Gary Hopping.  "They've donated so much time and energy, I couldn't have done this without them."  Now Portland's entire dog-loving community has rallied behind the Finding Veronica cause, which has its own page on Facebook.  Today is the date of the "Sniff Out Veronica Rally" from 4-6 p.m.  The location is the Morrison Bridge at SE Grand.

"We need the public's attention to help find Veronica," adds Hopping, who is offering a $5,000 reward for Veronica's safe return, no questions asked.  "This is gut-wrenching; I'm heartbroken.  I was with Veronica literally 24 hours a day, so to have her gone is devastating - I'm a shell of a person without her."

If you have information on Veronica's whereabouts, please contact Gary on his cellular phone any time, day or night, 503-810-2763.
