A favorite FetchDog pet charity is Puppies Behind Bars, the unique program that trains prison inmates to raise service dogs from puppyhood, so the dogs can go on to help people in need of assistance.

Now, FetchDog and Quabaug Corp.'s Vibram Pet Products have teamed up to raise awareness and funds for this excellent non-profit organization, which is often celebrated in Glenn Close's Lively Licks blog. Bill Campbell for Puppies Behind Bars

Puppies Behind Bars wants to provide veterans and their families with an expertly trained companion dog to aid in the challenges that daily living can present after returning home with injuries from a tour of duty in Iraq or Afghanistan - brave vets like Bill Campbell, whose yellow lab, Pax, is more than a best friend, he's a lifeline enabling Campbell to cope with the PTSD and traumatic brain injury he sustained in Baghdad.

Dog Tags Chewy Shoe Dog ToyThe DogTags Chewy Shoe sports an appropriate color scheme - red, white, and blue - and proceeds from sales of this fun dog toy will support Puppies Behind Bars' new initiative, Dog Tags: Service Dogs for Those Who've Served Us. The toy is made of the same natural-rubber material used to fabricate the majority of the shoe soles on footwear in use by the U.S. military.

FetchDog, which is selling the toy exclusively through its web site and catalog, and Vibram will each contribute $1 for every sale of the Chewy Shoe to support Dog Tags, which will help fund the training of approximately 20 dogs this year - certainly a win-win proposition in these uncertain, troubled times.
