Acton, California is one of the areas affected by the Los Angeles forest fire.  As the 35,000+ acre blaze continues to burn, animal sanctuaries in the area are prepared for the worst while hoping for the best, and have begun implementing plans to evacuate the dogs and other animals in their care.

In 2007, when the last severe fire storms hit Southern California, Animal Acres built an evacuation center for its animals, purchased an additional transport trailer, and constructed fencing and chutes needed at the sanctuary to remove animals quickly.  As soon as its own residents are safely relocated, Animal Acres is prepared to assist with other animal evacuation needs.

Another sanctuary in Acton is Linda Blair Worldheart, operated by Fetchdog friend Linda Blair, which provides safe haven to dozens of rescued dogs.

Our prayers go out to he dogs and people of California; please consider making a donation to help these organizations in this time of crisis.  For updates on the fire, go here.
