Keeping everyone cool in the dog days of August

Now that we've entered the final stretch of summer, keeping dogs cool should be top of mind. Fetchdogs have considerate owners who have probably already road-tested innovative products such as cooling dog beds and toys. Here are a few more ways to help your best friend chillax in the hot days ahead.

If your dog pants pitiably even on shady morning outings, try tying on a bandana that's specially designed to be a portable cooling system.

Take special care not to weigh your senior dog down with empty calories - treat him right with tasty morsels that are low in fat, but high in healthy fringe benefits. Joint support treats contain Glucosamine and Chondroitin to help ease the stiffness of dogs with arthritis; this is especially important in hot, humid weather, which makes it even harder for senior dogs to move.

And don't let senior dogs pack on extra pounds with high-carb munchies; keep snack time light and healthy with vegetarian chews instead.
