In convention speech, Sarah Palin references a controversial dog breed

Posted on Sep 4, 2008 By Julia Szabo
At the Republican National Convention last night, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin presented herself as a small-town outsider. And, as befits an outsider, Palin made an intriguing comparison.

Characterizing herself as a "hockey mom," she said, "What's the difference between a hockey mom and a Pit Bull? Lipstick." It's rare for a politician to reference a dog breed, let alone one that is often the subject of controversy.

Palin has not yet received a formal nomination for the second spot on presidential candidate John McCain's ticket, but said, "I will be honored to accept the nomination for vice president of the United States."
