As reported last week by the New York Post, producer Daryl Roth, a force to be reckoned with in the world of the New York stage (and founder of the Daryl Roth Theatre), is at work on a new pet project: a documentary about the relationship between celebrities and their dogs.

Among the talent Roth has lined up for the film are Edie Falco, Lynn Redgrave, Richard Gere, Isaac Mizrahi, and FetchDog's own Glenn Close. Interestingly, many of these boldfaced names are mixed-breed aficionados, with dogs as unique as they are.

Redgrave is a big fan of New York City's Animal Haven Shelter. Meanwhile, Mizrahi has stated that "A mutt is couture - the only one of its kind in the world, made especially for you." And Gere produces and stars in Hachiko: A Dog's Story, a drama about a college professor's bond with an adopted dog that's inspired, in part, by a famously faithful Japanese dog who is immortalized with a statue in Tokyo's Shibuya station. Lasse Hallstrom, of My Life as a Dog fame, directs.
