One of FetchDog's favorite annual events is Broadway Barks, the star-studded dog adopt-athon happening this Saturday, July 11 in the heart of Manhattan's fabled theater district, in Shubert Alley, between 44th and 45th Streets, just West of Broadway.  At this special show, seasoned stars cede the spotlight to homeless dogs; among the celebs expected to turn out and lend a paw are Ashanti, Elizabeth Ashley, Rupert Everett, and Angela Lansbury, plus Broadway's go-to-dog trainer William Berloni.

Founded by Bernadette Peters and Mary Tyler Moore, Broadway Barks is now in its 11th year and going strong, having connected hundreds of homeless pets with loving new forever homes.   Last year, Peters penned a charming book about the event, told from the POV of her dog Kramer.  This year's big draw is the "Autographed Hounds of Broadway," a pack of one-of-a-kind stuffed dogs signed by actors from the hit shows All My Sons, Billy Elliott, Equus,  Blithe Spirit, Hair, Hairspray, 9 to 5, and West Side Story.

There's even a special Autographed Hound honoring Broadway Barks signed by Peters and Moore.  And for fans of Rodgers & Hammerstein, the South Pacific Hound was autographed by the show's cast and dressed by the show's wardrobe wizard; her name is Nellie and she wears a grass skirt and lei.

The autographed Hounds of Broadway will be showcased and sold via silent auction, with all proceeds donated to the Picasso Veterinary Fund of the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals.  The Autographed Hounds mafde thier debut on June 26th at the Christofle boutique on Madison Avenue, where pre-bids are being accepted until July 10; bids start at $150.  To preview and pre-bid online, go here.

As of July 11, the Hounds will be on display and available for bidding in Shubert Alley beginning at 3:30 PM.
