Best-selling dog author John Grogan has another book in the works

William Morrow has announced that John Grogan, best-selling author of Marley & Me, the movie adaptation of which will make its screen debut this Christmas, has a prequel in the works. The new book, titled The Longest Trip Home, will go on sale nationwide October 21.
 
According to a press release issued by the publisher, "Before there was Marley, that lovable yellow Lab who stole America's heart, there was a bright, mischievous, all-American boy named John Joseph Grogan. The Longest Trip Home is his charming and poignant story, a tale of growing up, breaking away, and finding the way home again that will resonate across generations."
 
"Even before Marley & Me was published, I knew this was the story I wanted to tell next," Grogan said. "The Longest Trip Home is a story very close to my heart."
 
The launch of the new book will include a 12-city author tour, plus national TV and radio satellite tours during which Grogan will also promote his children's book, A Very Marley Christmas, which goes on sale September 30.
