It's been three years since reality-TV audiences got up close and personal on "The Bachelor" with Prince Lorenzo Borghese, the handsome entrepreneur behind the "Royal Treatment Italian Pet Spa" collection of dog shampoos and conditioners. Proving that his TV career has completely gone to the dogs, the charming prince will unveil his new web-based TV series, "America's Next Princess," on Monday. "It's heavily pet oriented," he promises.

Borghese's co-star on the show is a dog named Bond - Bartholomew Cutie Patootie El Pootie Bond. On loan from one of Borghese's friends, Bond is a charismatic cross between a Maltese and a Miniature Poodle. "He's a chick magnet," is how Borghese describes his scene-stealing sidekick, whose role in the series is to act as silent, trusted advisor to the prince as he goes about selecting a princess upon whom to lavish the royal treatment.

"I just don't like people who don't like animals, so Bond helps me pick the women," Borghese explains. "If he doesn't like them, they're out - the dog is the sole decider of who advances to the next round. "Bond," the prince adds with a laugh, "gets more ladies than I do!"

Joking aside, Borghese is serious about his love for dogs. "They're so important in our lives, especially now, during these hard economic times," he says. "Dogs really are man's best friend. They make us feel happy, yet they're being forgotten - now more than ever, dogs are ending up behind bars in shelters, abandoned because people can't afford to care for them."

So Borghese is doing his part to raise awareness of the enormous benefits of pet adoption. "America's Next Princess" has an important charity element. To draw attention to the millions of homeless dogs in animal shelters across this country. Borghese is donating a portion of the show's proceeds to two national animal welfare organizations, the ASPCA, America's first humane organization, and North Shore Animal League America, the world's largest no-kill animal shelter.
