At Broadway Barks, Pilots N Paws to receive award for flying dogs to safety

By Julia Szabo

Comments(11) Every July, Broadway Barks brings adoptable dogs to Shubert Alley, the heart of New York City's theater district, so they can strut their stuff alongside famous stars of stage and screen. The goal is to connect homeless dogs with permanent homes, and to date hundreds have been adopted thanks to the tireless efforts of event co-founders Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters.

This year, the event takes place tomorrow, Saturday, July 10. In addition to appearances by Moore and Peters, expect to see a complete cast of A-list celebrity dog lovers, all appearing to raise awareness of pet adoption.

The festivities will also include heartfelt recognition of lifesaving work done by those who facilitate animal rescue. Among the individuals and entities to be honored is Pilots N Paws,  a 501(c)(3) organization that pairs rescue groups that need to transport dogs long distances with pilots willing to donate their time for this worthy cause.
