Comments(1) Hello! Kudos to you for what you do! I think I just rescued one of Muttley's relatives in Mount Vernon Washington. She has the same 'look' as he does. She is such a good girl! Do you have any clue what kinds of breed(s) he may be? I've been told Pit Bull, Great Dane, or Mastiff....... It Doesn't matter, not at all, but we're trying to figure out how big our little Hannah might be when she grows up. Thank you! - Kathie Brown

Hi Kathie,

Thanks so much for your kind words and thanks for rescuing your sweet girl Hannah!  I'm sure Muttley would love to meet up with his long lost brindled relative from Washington!  It sounds like they would get along just fine.  We're pretty sure that Muttley is part Great Dane and part Staffie (Pit Bull).  Of course no doggie forensics to back that up, but we have it on pretty good authority.  So, how big will Hannah get?  Well Mr. Muttley is 39 inches long (from the tip of his nose to the base of his tail), 26 inches tall at the shoulder, 32 inches tall at the head head, and a lean (but not so mean), 92-pound, lovin' machine.  Let's just say if you're thinking about picking up that Gooby or New York Dog Haute Couture jacket - you may want to get it in an Extra Large.  As my parents were fond of saying, "don't worry, you'll grow into it."

Thanks again for your kind words!

All the best,
Marty and Amanda St John

Kathy, Marty, Amanda: WOW! This is an amazing story! Thanks to Glenn, we now have an organized "actionboard" which has already proved itself as effective. I look forward to reading this blog each day... Now...hang on just a sec, if you would. I have something I've always wanted to do: Glenn, I LOVE YOU! I have ALWAYS loved you. My husband and I (gay marriage is legal in Massachusetts-remember?) are always talking about your movies: "We LOVE Glenn Close!" I've never witnessed a more competent actress. Total class all the way...! Ok. Thanks. Shameless, I know, but, still, I just had to say that...! ;) So anyway, you guys are heroes. I really hope you know this. You're what we're all evolving into, I believe. I'm in Boston (Cambridge), MA, right near the world-renowned Angel Memorial Animal Hospital. So please let me know if there's ever anything I can do for you...or anyone else reading this. In closing, I'm not sure I've mentioned this yet or not, but GLENN, I LOVE YOU! *WE* LOVE YOU! (I know I know...I'm such a shmuck! Still worth it, though.)

Welcome to LIVELY LICKS: Profiles of Dogs and their People.
I hope that you will be entertained, comforted and inspired by the people and dogs that I have the privilege of featuring on this blog. Since starting it over a year and a half ago, it has pulled me into an incredible journey. Besides being able to celebrate some of my wonderful friends and the profound bond they have with their dogs, LIVELY LICKS has introduced me to the world of avalanche dogs, bomb-sniffing dogs, service dogs for our wounded warriors and dogs in need of rescue and adoption. I have been inspired by the selfless dedication of the people who run grassroots shelters as well as urban care and control centers. I have been deeply moved by their stories in which dogs heal and empower their humans. Those of us who have dogs, know how much they enhance our quality of life with their unquestioning loyalty and unconditional love. There are an infinite number of stories to tell, so I hope you will stay with me as I continue to explore and discover and delight in the journey.
