Our good friend Glenn Close was interviewed by Judy Francis and Hal Abrams on the Animal Radio® Weekly Show this past weekend. Glenn talks about her life long history with dogs, and how she manages to keep Bill and Jake such a central part of her everyday work and travels in spite of an incredibly busy schedule. She also talks about FetchDog, her Lively Licks blog, the Puppies Behind Bars organization which is receiving a percentage of her widget sales, and hints at some future interviewees. Hal and Judy are great interviewers-it is a fun listen.
With their permission, we've excerpted the interview here:

I think Martha's favorite is Paw Paw. I was so sorry to hear that he has gone to Rainbow Bridge. My Ebony (Chow Chow) went to Rainbow Bridge on March 18, 2008 and I am still crying, at times, and missing her so much. I just know that my Ebony and Paw Paw are happy and whole again with no pain and that they are keeping and eye on us. Martha will always be watched over by Paw Paw...He is beautiful!!! I love Chow Chow's, they are the most loving, caring and regal breed (in my humble opinion).

My beloved little Maltese BUDDY crossed over that Rainbow Bridge in January 2007. This wonderful little companion saved my life not only once but twice. I got BUDDY when he wa 18 months old from a breeder that simply had too many little ones in her home. BUDDY and his dad were not compatable. I learned that my friend needed a home for BUDDY, I zoomed right over to her house and picked him up. It was love at first sight. Ten days after bringing BUDDY into my home my air conditioner wires caught on fire and he warned me of the trouble. Fortunately I was able to stop the fire and that is when he saved my life and my home. Kismet! I believe I was ment to have this little one come and live with me. When BUDDY passed away many years too soon, I discovered from the Vet that he died due to mold spores in his lungs. This was cause by a problem that I had under my kitchen sink. Something so out of the way I never would have discovered it. As the mold grew in my sub flooring the spores were being distributed throughout my home by the heat vent system. I got pneumonia that winter and none of the usual antibiotics were working and I was getting more and more ill. The mold spores wer going into my lungs and were making me more sick on top of the pneumonia. BUDDY'S death saved my life one more time. If we had not discovered the mold spores in his lungs we never would have known about the problem causing me to get sicker by the day. His unconditional love for me kept him by my side constantly. He would only leave me long enough to eat and go outside to do his business then it was back in bed beside me again. Its been a year and a half since he died and I still cry. This is when I got the idea for Forget Me Not Creations. I make picture framed memorials of pets. I often include the poem of the Rainbow Bridge. I also take bits and pieces of certain things that belonged to the pet such as their name tag or license, a piece of their favorite blanket or sweater, their collar and pictures of the pet. I arrange them into a flat picture or shadow box suitable to hang in a special place in the home so you have a little memorial of your loved pet. I started doing this for friends who have suffered the loss of their companions and everyone just loves them. Not everyone understands the love between yourself and your pet but I do. Making these little memorials or tributes to our loved family members is helping me. I make each one with the love I had in my heart for my BUDDY. If anyone would like more information on my memorials just email me at triciatravelgal@aol.com put pet memorial in the subject box so I know its from another pet lover. My heart goes out to all of you who have lost your loved ones, I know how you feel. Sincerely Tricia Reynolds, Forget Me Not Creations
