The Coolest Dog Products Under the Sun - FetchDog's Fab Summer Collection Now Available

Posted on Jun 18, 2008 By FetchDog

From eco-friendly beds to motion sensing water dispensers, FetchDog has everything the modern dog could possibly want, or need, all deliciously displayed in the new Summer Collection. Shop online or order a catalog at www.fetchdog.com.

Portland, ME (PRWEB) June 18, 2008 -- Up here in Maine everything's finally turning green. You might say the same thing about the brand new FetchDog 2008 Summer Collection, featuring the best-designed finest-made dog products available in one place, anywhere.

Shopping at FetchDog is a unique experience thanks to the blogs, videos and stories on everything from breed selection to tick prevention. Dog lovers love that they can shop with a purpose at FetchDog through our Charitable Shops, sharing a portion of every purchase with programs like Animal Rescue New Orleans, the ASPCA, and Puppies Behind Bars.

The Summer Collection sports an array of eco-friendly products. Start with our expanded collection of beds made from IntelliLoft, amazingly cozy fill material created entirely of recycled plastic bottles. Browse on over to the ingenious Auto-Fresh Fountain that uses motion detection to precisely serve up fresh cold water to your thirsty pooch. Connects right to your existing outside faucet.

Your dog friends will be green with envy when they see your gleaming Contempo Bowls, winner of the Chicago Museum of Architecture and Design "Good Design" award. Crafted from 18/10 surgical steel with built in handles that makes scooping just the right amount of puppy chow a breeze.

And if lean, not green, is your immediate priority, consider the sexiest dog bowl with the grouchiest name: The ever-popular Anti-Bloat Bowl, tested and recommend by vets to promote slower eating, better digestion and a generally less tummy-stressed hound.

Speaking of healthier minds and bodies, don't forget to check out the amazing Triple Chew edible chew toy. It's a workout and dental visit in one. Bye-bye doggie breath.

If you a bit more devout about dazzling denture, go straight to the FetchDog Dental Kit stocked with not one but two different tooth brushes and filet mignon flavored toothpaste.

Summer's about the outdoors, so get out and about in confidence and style with the Just-A-Cinch Leash, a veritable Swiss Army knife of leashes. With an integrated collar that converts from standard to a correction collar, reflective trim woven right into the rope, even an accessory loop that provides hands-off transport of the inevitable doggie bag (you know what we mean).

The entire FetchDog 2008 Summer Collection is now online at www.fetchdog.com. Many dog lovers also like our printed catalog, which offers a variety of exclusive catalog-only products and select discounts.

About FetchDog
FetchDog began as the dream of a bunch of dog-crazy friends with a common complaint--why was there no great place online to shop for our dogs or to connect with dog experts and other dog lovers?

We wanted products that were sturdy, practical, yet beautiful to look at; thoughtfully-designed items that would complement our lives and our lifestyles. Naturally healthy food, treats, and health care products free of chemicals and byproducts. Most of all, we wanted all these things in one convenient place.

That's FetchDog. Shop with us, share with us, at www.fetchdog.com.

Getting ready for Glenn Close to appear on The View

Posted on Jun 15, 2008 By Emily Bruce

This week has been a little bit of a whirlwind, which is actually normal here at the FetchDog office; the past few days it was because Glenn Close is going to be on ABC's The View on Monday. We're all very excited she has been invited to appear because she's got a great story to tell. She recently interviewed Bill Campbell, an Iraq war vet with a special dog, in her most recent Lively Licks blog post.

This incredibly moving story is the kind we love around here. An organization we support, Puppies Behind Bars, has a program where they work with inmates to train dogs who then become service dogs for people in need. In their "Dog Tags" program the service dogs are specifically trained to help returning war veterans. It's tremendously powerful to see how the interaction with these dogs uplifts both the life and rehabilitation of the inmates as well as provide companionship, support and healing for the veterans. We're all very proud of Glenn and her outreach on behalf of this cause.

One of the reasons this week was a little more hectic than normal was because we had to gather products to send to the studio audience of The View. We contacted our good friends here in Maine at the company My Good Dog and they generously donated dog toys for everyone who will be in the audience. They sent the highly durable and much loved Chewy Shoe as well as the Throw Me a Rope Ball.

We also had to coordinate getting catalogs to the studio so everyone there could learn more about FetchDog. If you're not already on our mailing list, sign up now and we'll send you our free catalog.

Hope you get a chance to see the show and check out Glenn Close's Lively Licks Blog post with Bill Campbell, Iraq War Vet. Find out when The View airs in your town: http://abc.go.com/daytime/theview/whentowatch

In Memory of Martha Stewart's Paw Paw

Posted on Apr 18, 2008 By Glenn Close

It is with great sadness that all of us at FetchDog read about the passing of Martha Stewart's Paw Paw. I was lucky to meet him on several occasions and felt, each time, that I was in the presence of an exceptional creature. He had gravitas, like a great chief, but also---a whisper of humor as well. I'm sure Martha will miss him terribly (see her lovely post "Paw Paw: I will miss him"), but will also find comfort in the fact that he had such a long, loving and good life.

Newest Lively Licks -- Glenn Close Interviews Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen

Posted on Nov 18, 2007 By Peter Troast

We're immensely proud to have Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen as the latest guests on Glenn Close's Lively Licks blog. We've all been transfixed by Ted's amazing performance as the evil but complex corporate titan Arthur Frobisher on Damages.

In real life, Ted Danson couldn't be more un-Arthur Frobisher. Glenn's interview with Ted and his wife, Mary, is delightful. They are giving and fun, particularly around their dog trio of Lulu (a rescued Mexican street dog), Roxy (a hypnotic pug) and Arthur (not sure, but he's beautiful and can hug). Some house secrets are revealed, and it is abundantly clear that there is plenty of laughter around their lives with their dogs.

Under the Lively Licks charitable social shopping program, Ted and Mary have chosen to benefit Little Angels Pug Rescue, a small but terrific organization in southern California. Making your purchases on FetchDog count for Little Angels is easy. Just start shopping from the list of products Ted and Mary have chosen as their favorites by clicking here. We'll track all your purchases—whether from their recommendations or not—and will donate a percentage of those proceeds to Little Angels. There is no added cost to you—just do your routine shopping and FetchDog donates a portion of the sale, on behalf of Ted and Mary, to pug rescue work.

Dog Food Ingredients Country of Origin

Posted on Nov 15, 2007 By Sibyl

Here at FetchDog, one of our goals is to find the healthiest food for our dogs and your dogs, and we pay attention not only to the ingredients in the food we sell, but where those ingredients are from.

We've hand selected an exclusive collection of only the best available foods. On FetchDog.com, we've assured that the ingredients listing for each food includes a Country of Origin note. All of our vendors take their ingredients as seriously as we do, and with a few exceptions, all the ingredients in the foods we sell are from the United States. FetchDog sells foods containing lamb from New Zealand and quinoa from Canada or South America.

At least two brands of foods we sell, Solid Gold and Wellness, contain taurine, an amino acid. Solid Gold sources its taurine from China, while Wellness said its taurine comes from Asia. Both companies said the taurine has passed extensive testing.

“Recent research by UC Davis has shown that certain breeds of dogs, specifically certain large breeds, can develop dilated cardiomyopathy due to a lack of taurine,” Solid Gold said. “It is this research that prompted us to add taurine to our dry dog foods last year. We feel the benefits of taurine far outweigh the risks of sourcing the ingredient from China.” Solid Gold said it is searching for a taurine supplier in another country.

B.L. Ochman recently raised the issue of dog food country of origin on her great whatsnextblog (where we love reading about her Labradoodle Benny Bix Ochman), and Peter made a new fan for our site and its nutrition content with his response.
