Hallmark premieres new dog movie that's sure to become a Christmas classic.

Besides shopping, gifting, cookie-baking and card-addressing, the pre-Christmas period is also prime time for parking before the TV - preferably with a dog or two - to watch classic holiday specials, a bowl of popcorn (and, if Spot is lucky, a container of Pup Corn dog treats) at the ready.

A Dog Named Christmas MovieThe Christmastime canon includes frequently-viewed family flicks It's a Wonderful Life and Miracle on 34th Street as well as made-for-TV classics such as the stop-motion animated masterpiece Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and the animated gems Frosty the Snowman, A Charlie Brown Christmas, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Now dog lovers may add a new TV film to that esteemed list.  This Sunday night on CBS, Hallmark will premiere its TV movie version of Greg Kinkaid's best-selling book A Dog Named Christmas.  It tells the story of Todd, a developmentally disabled young man who dreams of having a dog of his own.  Todd achieves his goal by fostering a Labrador from his local animal shelter.

In case you haven't read the book, we won't spoil the ending - but rest assured it's a happy heartwarming one.  Don't miss it.  But if you do, we bet you'll have plenty of chances to see it again; this TV special is likely to become classic Christmastime viewing for years to come.
