"Pillow with a Heartbeat" is a small purple book sporting an innovative cover design involving an actual dog collar that keeps the pages neatly closed with a magnetic clasp. Inside you'll find the story of one little puppy's life experiences from birth to present day. Although it is certain that countless other dogs have shared a similar journey what makes this version unique is hearing it in the dog's own words.

Truffles, an aptly named chocolate poodle, shares the woes of his puppyhood--bullying siblings, being taken away from his mother to be sold, and a close call with tainted dog food. Even after he finds a loving home with author Nancy Stanley, he endures a few more challenges in the form of life-threatening pneumonia and an encounter with a coyote. It's an awful lot for a fluffy little dog weighing in under five pounds.

Happily, surviving the trials and tribulations of his early years are not in vain as Truffles goes on to have a surprise reunion with a long-lost friend and become an accomplished therapy dog. "Pillow with a Heartbeat" is appropriate for Bookhounds of all ages and for those left wanting more, never fear, it seems Truffles is not the only one who found his big purpose. Nancy Stanley, Truffle's "mom" and co-author, promises, "'Pillow with a Heartbeat' is the first of many books to come as Truffles continues his journey in life."
