Review by Tanya Turgeon

Today is "Take Your Dog To Work Day," which means plenty of opportunities for super cute photo-taking. Even amateur photographers can capture the best canine moments by following the advice of long time animal lover and professional "phoDOGrapher" Kim Levin as offered in her book "PhoDOGraphy."

Levin starts you off with what type of camera to work with, the pros and cons of going digital, and which brand holds her loyalty (Nikon seems to be the winner). From there she delves into the art and science involved in forever recording that moment, that one image, which represents these four-legged soulmates of ours. From full-body portraits, to close-ups of wet noses, expressive eyes, and fluffy tails Levin shares lighting tricks, dog wrangling tips, and composition hints that result in attaining that perfect picture.

One dog, two dogs, many dogs, dogs with their people, still dogs, running dogs, sleeping dogs, dogs in black and white, dogs in color, dogs indoors, dogs outdoors, dogs in cars; Levin reveals every secret she has to getting these shots. Each picture is an example of technique mastered through years of experience but by following her instructions you can achieve in a fraction of the time. It's impossible not to be inspired by this work and you will find yourself reaching for your camera before getting through the first chapter.

If you need to see it to believe it, then this is the book for you. Not a page goes by without some sort of amazing heartwarming photograph of a dog on it. Even if ISO settings, apertures, and lens types are lost on you, any dog lover will fully appreciate this book for the gallery of portraits that it is, even if disguised as a learning manual.

So here's hoping all you Fetchdoggers are spending some quality time with your dog at work today and that you're taking plenty of pictures to remember the experience.Visit the Take Your Dog to Work website to enter your newly shot photos in their gallery for a chance at some great prizes.
