Celebrity Dogs: Photographs by Kamil Salah

Do blondes really have more fun? Well, are celebrity dogs really more beautiful than the usual run of pooch? On the evidence of pictures by the late Kamil Salah, a high-fashion photographer, the answer is "Apparently so!"

No, but that's because while all dogs are lovely in their own way, not all get the star treatment. Salah's lens makes of a sleeping Chihuahua a regal crown, and Heidi Klum's dog Sheila a model as gorgeous as her owner. (Those folks, by the way, are out of the picture - they get plenty of coverage elsewhere.)

What comes through in these warm photos that could only have been taken by someone who had a deep heart and an even deeper love for dogs is the very dog-ness of the subjects. Kelly Klein's Aussie does what Aussies are wont to do: fly through the air sideways. Kyle Maclachlan's terrier leaps in pure joyful exuberance.  

The owners may be famous beauties, but their dogs are here seen as ravishing in their own right. And so, whether lush color or sensual black & white, are these gaze-worthy pictures.
